The Salt Cell is designed to be placed OUTSIDE the filter for optimum performance and life.
It is recommended that water hardness is kept in the range of 250 - 350 ppm to protect metal parts from corrosion, and extended cell life. Products to increase water hardness can be purchased from your local pool shop.
Salt cells can also have their usable life reduced if pH is too high. Ensure pH is checked weekly and if too high reduce to recommended levels through the addition of white vinegar. If pH continues to rise use Sodium Bisulphate in recommended quantities.
Physical damage to the Salt Cell, or excessive calcium build-up is not covered under warranty. All salt cells need regular cleaning by soaking in white vinegar or mild acid solution when scale build-up is noticeable.
